BARNARD Family

BARNARD Gertrude "Trudie" Lucy

Gertrude ‘Trudie’ Lucy BARNARD nee KENNEDY was born in 1886 in Merino, Victoria. (1886-1975)(89).
Trudie married Charles Edmund Barnard (c1892-1964)(71), who had served as a member of the 10th Light Horse Brigade during WWI at Gallipoli. They were one of the first to be granted a block in December 1919. This was at the Pallinup Soldier Settlement (Kojonup Location 7104).

The family became part of the close knit group of 22 families starting out on the land.

They had four children: Dorothy Gertrude, Frank Arthur, Patricia (‘Pat’) Joan and Margaret (‘Meg’) Caroline. Like most other families in the district, living conditions were simple for some years – there was no running water and no electricity.

Trudie passed away in 1975 (1989).
